FAQs

Everything You Need To Know Before You Start

What is EMS training?
EMS training uses electrical muscle stimulation to activate muscles while you perform simple, guided movements. This allows more muscle fibres to work at the same time compared to traditional training.
Is EMS training safe?
Yes, when delivered correctly. At XLAB, every session is fully coached and intensity is adjusted to suit your body, experience, and comfort level. Safety and control are always the priority.
Who is EMS training best suited for?
EMS training is ideal for people who are short on time, returning to exercise, managing joint pain, or finding that traditional workouts no longer work for their body.
Can I do EMS training if I have injuries or pain?
Many clients come to XLAB with past injuries or ongoing pain. EMS training is low impact and joint friendly. We tailor movements and intensity to reduce strain. In some cases, medical clearance may be required.
How long does an EMS session take?
Each session takes 20 minutes. This includes a full body workout designed to deliver results without long gym sessions.
How often should I train?
Most clients train one to two times per week. Because EMS activates more muscle fibres, frequent long sessions are not required.
Does EMS help with weight loss?

EMS can support weight loss by building lean muscle and increasing calorie burn in a short, efficient workout. When combined with good nutrition and consistency, many clients see improvements in body composition and tone.

Can EMS build muscle & tone?

Yes. EMS activates a high percentage of muscle fibres during each session, which supports muscle strength and toning. With consistent training, many clients see improved muscle definition and overall strength without heavy weights or long workouts.

Suitable if I haven’t exercised in a long time?

Yes. EMS training is low impact and fully coached, making it suitable for beginners or anyone returning to exercise after a long break. Each session is tailored to your ability and comfort level.

What should I wear to a session?
We provide the EMS suit and guide you through the setup. You will be advised on suitable clothing before your first session.
Do I need to bring anything?

Just comfortable workout clothing and a water bottle. We’ll provide the EMS equipment and guide you through everything during your session.

Is EMS training suitable during pregnancy?

EMS training is not recommended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or think you may be, please let us know and consult your healthcare provider before starting any training. We are happy to discuss suitable options for returning to training after pregnancy.

Is EMS training suitable after pregnancy?

Yes, EMS can be suitable postnatally once you have medical clearance. Sessions are fully coached and tailored to support a safe return to strength, core stability, and overall fitness at a pace that suits your body.

What results can I expect and how long will it take?

Many clients start to feel stronger and more connected to their body within the first few sessions. Visible changes in muscle tone and body composition typically develop over several weeks with consistent training and healthy lifestyle habits.

How is EMS different from regular gym training?

EMS activates more muscle fibres at once while using simple, low impact movements. This allows you to build strength and tone in just 20 minutes, without heavy weights, long workouts, or crowded gym environments.

Still not sure?

If you have questions that were not answered here, or you want to talk through whether EMS training is right for your body, we are here to help. A coach can explain how EMS works, discuss any injuries or concerns, and help you decide the best next step. There is no obligation and no pressure to book. Sometimes a short conversation is all it takes to feel confident moving forward.
